“We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.” ~ Grant Morrison
I took this shot at Union Square Park in Manhattan. I had spent a bit of time there, and was frustrated by my inability to find anything to shoot. Either I saw something too late, or I was too intimidated. I was ready to leave, and then I saw this child and their grownup come into view. I was able to line up the shot and voila! A pretty cool photo, in my opinion.
What made this even more magical for me was the context. This child is wearing a superhero costume, yet it's early Spring and not Halloween, as you might imagine. There's sure to be an interesting story behind this, and that's what makes this image special.
